Bellevue Adequate Chi and Blood Circulation for a Healthy Body

without comments

A lot of studies have confirmed the effectiveness of herbal medicine and acupuncture combined in the symptom and pain management for cancer patients.  These two natural modes of treatment are utilized to offset the bad effects of chemotherapy and radiation.

Anxiety, depression, headaches, fatigue, vomiting, nausea, rashes, peeling skin, mouth sores and tongue ulcers are typical side effects of Western types of cancer treatment.  Many of these side effects are greatly neutralized by Chinese herbal therapy and acupuncture.

Here are some of the great benefits traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) gives to the body:

  1. Resolves stagnant energy in the body.  This stagnation is caused by blood and energy that have been blocked.  Fibroid, cyst and tumor growth are all manifestations of “blood stagnation” which can be corrected, removed or lessened with TCM.
  2. Improves blood circulation.
  3. Detoxifies the kidneys and liver.
  4. Balances hormones and improves the endocrine system function by helping the body achieve homeostasis.
  5. Helps produce and release beta endorphins that stimulates the sympathetic and autonomic nervous system.
  6. Alleviates both physical and mental stress.

Sadly more and more people are suffering from cancer and TCM is often overlooked or bypassed as a way to prevent cancer or at least serve as an adjunct treatment for Western solutions to cancer.  To help address cancer, a proper utilization of Eastern and Western medicine is needed.   Cancer can be avoided by letting people know that by eating healthy diet and following a healthy lifestyle one can effectively prevent the body from developing cancer.  Drugs, chemicals, processed foods and stress are leading factors for developing cancer.  Very little effort has been done to study and treat the root cause(s) of cancer.  This is because the medical industry has viewed cancer as a way to prosper financially.  Most cancer survivors have cited that exercise, good healthy eating and the reduction of stress have made them successfully overcome cancer.

TCM enables the normal and unobstructed flow of blood and energy (chi) throughout the body.  This free flow of life fluid and life energy gives the body good overall health.  TCM causes the immune system to function optimally.  Thus a healthy immune system can easily ward off disease.  The presence of adequate chi means your level of energy and vitality is optimal.  Thus technically speaking, chi is a person’s immune system. Blood and chi are dependent on each other and they both need to be adequate for the body to be disease free and healthy.  TCM for thousands of years has been used to fight flu, colds and fever by helping produce lymphocytes and white blood cells.  My patients know to call for Bellevue acupuncture treatment and herbs as soon as they start feeling sick. With TCM the patient who is suffering from sinus infections, bronchitis, flu or cold will recover much faster.

Helping you Find a Good Bellevue Acupuncturist

without comments

Acupuncture has been healing all types of ailments in the United States ever since it was introduced there in the 1970’s.  While there are some that will endlessly debate the effectiveness of this treatment, there are many who are adherents to this type of treatment.

Acupuncture was developed more than 3000 years as an alternative to surgery.  The ancient Chinese used this treatment to try to make it an all-encompassing solution for their sicknesses.  Records of thousand years of research and study formed the basis on how it is practiced in the modern era.  Acupuncture is about using very thin and non-hollow needles to treat the patient of whatever ails him/her.  The needles just barely pierce the skin and are placed in a way that causes changes in the energy balance of the body.

Initially visiting an acupuncturist, the patient will be physically examined in a way dissimilar to a mainstream physician.  The acupuncturist will examine the head area and will fashion a unique treatment program based on the patient’s unique constitution.  After examination, the patient is laid on a medical table and the treatment will start.  The needles used are sterile stainless steel needles and are inserted in specific points in the skin called acupuncture points or acupoints.  After around 30 to 40 minutes, the needles are removed out of the skin and the treatment session ends.  The acupuncturist will observe the reaction of the patient to see the treatment’s effectiveness.  Most treatments are multiple session ones and the length of the treatment itself will depend on the severity of the ailment.

It is best that one finds a highly recommended acupuncturist if he/she desires to try acupuncture.  If one is near a particular Chinese community, chances are that there are expert acupuncturists staying there.  If there are no nearby Chinese communities, learning centers are good places to look for acupuncturists.  It is also good to look for them in the same areas where mainstream physicians hold office.

When choosing an acupuncturist, safety is the most important criteria.  Good acupuncturists usually will have the appropriate certification and have a registered office for their practice.  All needles should be properly sterilized and the patient needs to ask the acupuncturist if this is so.  After all, the needles will be inserted in the patient’s body.

All the time, the acupuncturist expects this question to be asked by the patient.  Also, the patient should ask what side effects are to be expected from the treatment.

Whether one is looking for an alternative approach to conventional treatment or merely looking for a non-invasive type of procedure, acupuncture can give adequate relief.  Select the best acupuncturist you can find and get the best benefits of a treatment that has been around for thousands of years.

Bellevue Acupuncture an Effective Answer to Depression

without comments

Depression is an emotional state manifested by crying, malaise, melancholia, sadness, insomnia, anxiety and disinterest in activities.  Some cases of depression sometimes lead to suicide.   Depression alters the affected person’s daily activities not in a positive way.  In most cases, these people need to communicate with other individuals if only to relieve the pressure caused by depression.

Western society’s ways to deal with depression is with pharmaceutical medications, support groups and psychotherapy.  Bellevue Acupuncture for treating depression is gaining adherents since acupuncture has been hugely successful in the treatment of emotional disorders like addiction.  In traditional Chinese medicine, the cure for depression and any other emotional or psychological ailments is in treating the affected organs and assisting the body to release endorphins, chemicals that relax and let the body feel good and euphoric.

The acupuncturist needs to know the history of the depressed patient to be able to select the best treatment for him/her.  Chi, the life force flowing in the body can stagnate when strong emotions, positive or negative, are felt by the person.  When chi is not flowing very well, the body suffers from ailments, diseases and sicknesses.  Acupuncture is the treatment with thin-reed needles inserted in certain parts of the body to stimulate the flow of energy in the body.  It also allows the release of endorphins, which combats the low mood of the individual. Chinese herbs are sometimes used introduced as part of the treatment as they help speed up the healing process.   Herbal medicine offers many types of cures for any particular organ yin-yang deficiencies.

Some have combined acupuncture treatment with psychotherapy and even in conjunction with anti-depressants.  Even without adding these modalities, the person is perfectly fine with acupuncture treatment alone.

There were numerous studies done empirically proving the effectiveness of acupuncture against depression.  There were controlled studies done in the University of Arizona that involved three groups of depressed people, one was given a type of acupuncture treatment designed specifically for depression, another group were treated with acupuncture not really for depression and the third group were not given acupuncture treatment at all.

The study showed that those treated with acupuncture specific for depression experienced a substantial improvement in terms of symptoms reduction with 50% no longer in the category classified for major depression, compared to those in the non-specific treatment.  The third group had zero improvement, as expected, in symptoms.

The study showed the effectiveness of acupuncture in relieving depression symptoms.  This treatment is as potent, if not more, as psychotherapy or pharmaceutical drug treatment in combating depression.  The United Nations World Health Organization has given its stamp of approval to acupuncture as a valid form of treatment for depression.

Some Truths Regarding Alternative Medicine in Bellevue

without comments

Alternative medicine is occasionally called complementary medicine and it can be varied in its approach to health maintenance or therapy.  It can mean folk or indigenous medicine, faith healing or even physiotherapy or therapeutic massage.  These kinds of knowledge will never be learned in medical schools and do not expect conventional hospitals to offer these kinds of treatments.  Since almost all kinds of non conventional therapies are considered alternative medicine, the tendency to take them seriously is difficult to consider.  We can also add to the growing list of alternative medicine probiotics, pranic healing or any kind of new age treatment, yoga, herbology, acupuncture, homeopathy and fad diets.  It is essential to bear in mind that not all these approaches fall into quackery and in fact some of them are quite much more effective than conventional (read: Western pharmaceutical) medicine.

There have been numerous scientific researches to validate the efficacy of some alternative medicine procedures.  One can go to the library or go online on the Internet and easily find materials that validate and promote the value of any type of alternative treatment.  Even friends or family can be sources of information regarding specific alternative treatments.  It’s a fair chance that many of them have opted for alternative medicine after knowing conventional medicine can actually be harmful to the health of a person.

Being given chicken soup by your granny for your fever or a friend of your mother recommending applying egg yolk on your acne, which more often than not are effective remedies for those conditions are all considered part of alternative medicine.  This valuable information is not available knowledge in medical school.  Chicken soup is rich in protein, minerals, vitamins, hydration which are good in curing fever; it also good to eat.  Egg yolks are very rich in proteins and they enrich, moisturize and soothe the skin too.  An egg yolk helps remove embedded skin dirt and impurities without adding oil to the skin or drying it.  Would you ignore these fine alternatives because your doctor did not recommend them to you?

Some alternative medicines by the sheer force of overwhelming proof, have been begrudgingly accepted by Western medicine. Bellevue  Acupuncture is one of these treatments.  Practiced for thousands of years in China acupuncture is viewed as conventional therapy in many parts of Asia.  In the US acupuncture is only widely regarded as an effective treatment for pain.  However, so many people are now claiming this treatment is very effective in treating several cases of infertility, excessive weight and chemical and behavioral addiction among many others.  Proof of the efficacy of acupuncture is that the World Health Organization and the US National Institutes of Health have officially endorsed acupuncture as valid treatment for many kinds of conditions.

Drug Addiction and Alcohol Recovery with Bellevue Acupuncture

without comments

A recovering addict’s worst enemy is himself.  The urge to experience another fix or drink is one of the hardest things to control but it is the addict or abuser who needs to get past this hardest moment of his recovery if he wants to live a meaningful and happy life.    Many programs for recovery, many of them pharmacological, are at the addict’s disposal but many of them such as nicotine patches to aid in smoking cessation do not really treat the root cause of the problem.  It is quite sad that Bellevue acupuncture being a great way to assist drug addicts and alcoholics, is hardly known especially if people know how natural, safe and very effective this treatment is for helping these specific individuals get back to a normal, happy, productive and spiritual life.  Furthermore, acupuncture is quite a cost effective treatment than most other therapies available in the market today.

Before acupuncture, clinics used for treating addiction and alcoholism were rather rowdy, unpleasant, noisy and chaotic.  When acupuncture for drug addiction and alcoholism was introduced, the former bad environment was then replaced with calmness and peace in the clinic.  The treatment room has chairs arranged in such a way that the patients can talk with and see each other. Those new patients just coming in are greatly benefited by this arrangement particularly if they have anxiety regarding the therapy.  During acupuncture treatment, often 5 ultra thin needles are inserted in the ears of the patients and others may also be treated with needles in their arms, feet and hands, feet apart from the ears.  After less than an hour, the needles are removed from the body and can be done by an assistant or the acupuncturist.

The acupuncture treatment gives the patient a great feeling that takes away the urge for a fix or drink.  This is a key benefit for it greatly assists the patient to control his urges and thereby can proceed easily to the next stages of therapy.  The effects of acupuncture lasts usually a whole day and that is why patients often need daily treatment sessions.  For those dry alcoholics, daily acupuncture is unnecessary and they may get treated periodically instead.  To make the treatment truly long term, the patient needs to change his lifestyle into one that is less stressful.  A continuation of the old life can see him revert back to his habits and may allow the urges and craving to return.  Acupuncture treatments help control the urges and restore the physical health and healthy appearance of the addict or alcoholic.

Recovery programs that have integrated acupuncture into their program have far higher success rates than those that have not.  An addict or alcoholic can be healed, physically, emotionally, mentally and even spiritually with acupuncture.

Using Bellevue Acupuncture to Treat Drug and Alcohol Addiction

without comments

The problem with drug or alcohol addiction is while an addict is busy trying to get out of this habit the body is having extremely strong urges to satisfy its craving for another fix or drink.  Once the addict hurdles this obstacle the path to recovery becomes even clearer.  Western medical science may have provided support (if it can be termed as that) for those addicted to smoking in the form of nicotine patches.  However, with drug and alcohol addiction, it has not provided anything to help combat these two habits at all.  Acupuncture for drug and alcohol abuse is not really known to the wide public as a viable treatment for these two addictions because no major rich sponsors promote this natural and very beneficial treatment.  However, acupuncture in the treatment of chemical addiction is slowly gaining popularity especially among support groups and rehab centers that see it as an effective and cost-effective way of putting people back into the right way of living.

Rehab clinics can be unpleasant places to go to as they are filled with noisy and sordid people.  When acupuncture was introduced, the atmosphere slowly turned into one of relative peace and calmness.  New patients are carefully informed of this treatment to calm their nervousness and anxiety.  The patient is usually treated with five needles inserted on the ear and some needles also inserted in their arms, feet or hands.  The needles are left in the body for around 45 minutes after which are removed by the acupuncturist.

The effect of acupuncture on an addict is that it removes the desire and craving for the addictive substance.  Some of these patients wistfully describe the feeling as coming home from a hard day of work and taking off the shoes to relax.  The beneficial effect lasts a whole day and therefore the treatment needs to be done daily.  So-called dry alcoholics may determine for themselves the right time to go for treatment.  Besides the treatment, the patient needs to stay out of situations that can cause much stress since stress can be a trigger for the cravings to appear once more.

Because of acupuncture’s efficacy, rehab and detox clinics use  Bellevue acupuncture as the first stage of addiction therapy.  The first stage of treatment typically last ten days and at the end of ten days a urine sample of the patient is checked to find out if the patient has been drug or alcohol free for those ten days.  If the patient passed the urine sample test, he/she then goes to the next phase of the program which is called a twelve step program. Acupuncture is still given during this phase; however, a relapse of the patient will bring the patient back to the ten day treatment phase.

Programs that incorporate acupuncture treatment have much greater rates of success than that of conventional acupuncture-less programs.

Chemotherapy and Bellevue Acupuncture

without comments

Bellevue Acupuncture has been highly recommended by many physicians and patients as a very good vehicle for achieving well-being in the mental, emotional, physical and even spiritual sense.  It is one of the oldest medical treatments in the world dating back more than 2500 years ago.  Acupuncture utilizes reed-thin needles inserted and left in place for 30-40 minutes in certain parts of the skin to take away many types of pain and disorders.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture assists in balancing and normalizing the body systems to make them function efficiently.  Acupuncture restores balance and enables healthy unhindered energy to flow in the body.  Western science does not fully understand how acupuncture works but acupuncture has shown its effectiveness in relieving many kinds of pain and distress including the alleviation of nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy.

Chemotherapy is a very toxic treatment for cancer and it involves the use of chemicals to kill cancer cells; however, its toxicity kills not just the cancer cells but the healthy cells as well. Its track record of treating cancer is very poor and yet it is the main “therapy” used by almost all hospitals in the treatment of advanced cancer.  Its horrible side effects can be effectively remedied by acupuncture and all cancer patients given acupuncture treatment after chemotherapy can benefit greatly from acupuncture, especially the lessening of nausea and episodes of vomiting, according to the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

For the treatment of nausea, the acupuncture point P6 located in the wrist is usually treated with a needle.  Besides needles, this point can be activated through electro-acupuncture, electro-stimulation without the use of a needle or acupressure.  In one of the issues of the Journal of the American Medical Association, a large percentage of patients undergoing high-dose chemotherapy experienced less bouts of nausea and vomiting through electro-acupuncture in combo with anti-nausea drugs.  .  This proves that alternative modes of treatment such as acupuncture can be very beneficial for patients coping with the side effects of chemotherapy.  A number of oncologists then are recommending acupuncture nowadays to their patients before and after chemotherapy.

In a research experiment done in December 2000, more than a hundred women with breast cancer who underwent chemotherapy before having bone marrow transplants took anti-nausea drugs.  Besides taking -nausea drugs, some were also treated with electro-acupuncture once a day for five days, some were treated with minimal insertion of acupuncture without electrical stimulation once a day for five days and some were not given acupuncture at all.  The women treated with electro-acupuncture had substantially fewer episodes of nausea and vomiting A few percentage of those given acupuncture without electrical stimulation also had less bouts of nausea and vomiting while those not given acupuncture treatment at all experienced nausea and vomiting.  This experiment showed the efficacy of acupuncture in treating nausea and vomiting induced by chemotherapy.

Bellvue Acupuncture and Moxibustion

without comments

Acupuncture and Moxibustion have been part of traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years in China.  Now these two are one of the most popular forms of alternative medical treatments in the world.  Acupuncture treatment is the use of hair thin sterile needles inserted into specific areas called acupuncture points.  The needles are manipulated in such a way to elicit a desired response.  The acupuncture points are connected to a network of meridians spread throughout the body just like the circulatory and nervous systems of the body.  These meridians are energy channels where Chi, or “vital life” travels.  Chi is what energizes and gives the body strength and growth.  Without chi, the body dies.  Sometimes blockages arise in the meridians and hinder chi flow.  When chi stagnates or flows poorly, diseases and illnesses set in.  Acupuncture corrects these imbalances.  Acupuncture is now widely accepted as a treatment for many types of illnesses in the United States and all over the world.  When the needles are inserted, the patient feels just a slight tingling sensation.  The needles are left in the body for about 20 to 40 minutes depending on the treatment .  During treatment, the patient is flooded with a sense of relaxation and comfort.

The acupuncturist sometimes may use other complementary techniques such as moxibustion.  This is a treatment where an herb called mugwort is burned on the skin in order to maximize the effect of acupuncture treatment.  Acupuncture together with moxibustion is an effective remedy for a plethora of ailments.  With or without moxibustion though, acupuncture has built a credible reputation of being an exceptional alternative form of treatment for many diseases and sicknesses.  The World Health Organization acknowledges the effectiveness of acupuncture and lists the number of ailments or the symptoms of diseases, disorders and sicknesses it has known to treat.  Some diseases are more treatable with acupuncture combined with moxibustion than many modalities Western medicine offers.

Pain and injuries from the musculoskeletal system are treatable with Bellvue acupuncture.  When disease or damage affects this system, pain and distress are usually the results.  Three types of damage that usually happens to the musculoskeletal system are injury or sprain caused by a traumatic experience such as a sporting activity or a street accident, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.  For sudden injuries or sprains, acupuncture has an immediate effect and depending on the extent of the damage, treatment may just take a day or two or it may last several weeks.  Usually the needles are inserted in the painful and tender areas of the body.  With osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, the treatment usually takes a little longer and it may be just to for pain relief.  Treatment may take weeks and only after 4 or 5 sessions does the effect of the treatment start to manifest for many patients.  Nevertheless, the patient always comes out revitalized and relaxed after every session.

The Many Benefits of Bellvue Acupuncture

without comments

Bellvue Acupuncture has been the most popular alternative form of treatment for a wide range of sicknesses in the West since the 1970’s.  It is a potent weight loss program and is effective in treating pain, infertility, addiction, skin disorders, depression and anxiety.  Millions have benefited from this program and modern techniques developed in the West have made acupuncture even more effective than ever.

Practiced in China for well over 2000 years, acupuncture is part of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).  Acupuncture works by inserting hair-thin needles in certain areas of the body.  These needles help regulate the energy within the body, help restore the free flow of chi and stimulate the brain to release chemicals that help the body heal itself.  Acupuncture and TCM, in general are holistic in treatment of the individual.  This means they treat not only the physical ailments but also the emotional and psychological problems of the individual as well.

TCM believes that the body’s health lies in the free flow of chi or life force flowing throughout the body and in the body’s balanced and harmonious state of health.  When chi is blocked because of extreme emotions, positive or negative; injuries; pathogens or by the environment (climate), the balance of energy within the body which keeps the body in good health, is disrupted.  The result will be sickness, diseases and a general deterioration of health.

Acupuncture is very effective for people suffering from addictions whose cause often is mental in origin.  Alcoholism, substance abuse and overeating can be the result of some kind of psychological problem, usually sadness, anxiety, frustration, anger, loneliness or other negative emotions.  Acupuncture helps treat these types of problems by first removing the blockage caused by the negative emotions.  When chi then travels again throughout the body, the parts of the body deprived by chi becomes energized and the body’s metabolic rate increases, boosting the immune system and giving the person a renewed sense of vitality.  Acupuncture then helps stimulate the release of chemicals called endorphins and other beneficial chemicals that help the body feel relaxed and elated.  This relaxed state helps mitigate the craving and the addictions of the person good enough to enable him/her to resist the addiction.  Normally, the addiction is not cured overnight but after a number of sessions, the addiction becomes less and less until it eventually disappears.  Depending on the severity and longevity of the addiction, the treatment may last for a few days to more than six months.

For infertility cases, acupuncture elevates the body’s energy level and generates greater blood flow throughout the body.  Organs and body parts that usually make pregnancy difficult to achieve are repaired or benefit from the renewed vigor and blood flow in the body.  Acupuncture also normalizes hormone secretion, which is good especially for those producing low amounts of progesterone or high amounts of FSH.

Seattle Acupuncture Weight Loss Treatment

without comments

Seattle Acupuncture is one approach that Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) uses to treat the body’s electrical system and maintain a balanced flow of yin and yang. Yin and yang make up two opposing forces in the body, for example, hot and cold or passive and active. TCM believes that an imbalance of yin and yang in the body can cause illness. This is where the use of tiny needles, commonly known as acupuncture, comes in. TCM uses pathways along the body, called meridians, to apply acupuncture and unblock the flow of energy, restoring a healthy balance.

To practice acupuncture legally, a Masters Degree in Acupuncture or Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine is required. Acupuncturists are not always referred to as “doctors,” although some physicians may hold a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM). Health care providers or medical doctors can offer acupuncture treatment with less training. For your safety, check your acupuncturist’s credentials if the practice seems questionable.

An examination by an acupuncturist can determine if you have digestive problems or other symptoms that may cause overeating. Certain ear acupuncture for weight loss can help reduce stress and anxiety, which are common triggers for overeating. The acupuncture weight loss points vary for each person. Auricular acupuncture, or ear acupuncture, can help achieve weight loss by inserting needles into certain parts of the ear, releasing endorphins that produce a calming effect. Sometimes, a practitioner will use ear tacks to achieve a long-term effect. Ear tacks are meant to stay in the ear cartilage for around a week, and then they fall out on their own.

Acupuncture for weight loss points may also include other parts of the body. Inserting needles into points that stimulate the stomach, liver and kidney is said to produce positive results for water retention, along with proper oxygen and blood flow to the whole body. These acupuncture weight loss needles are usually kept in the body for around 30 minutes. Your acupuncturist may incorporate electro stimulation. Electro stimulation uses a very light electrical impulse to stimulate parts of the body. Leads are gently clamped onto the acupuncture needles and connected to a battery-powered device.

The number of weight loss acupuncture treatments needed varies for each individual. It depends on how much weight you want to lose, the severity of your overeating or binging and how fast you want to lose the weight. Some patients will need daily visits; others will need bi-weekly or weekly acupuncture therapy. Once the desired body weight is achieved, maintenance therapy will be needed, around four visits per year. A healthy diet and exercise will make losing the weight easier.

Do not rely on acupuncture alone to help you lose weight. A healthy diet of low-fat, low-calorie foods and a regular exercise routine should be used in conjunction with acupuncture to achieve weight loss. Avoiding sugars, eating plenty of vegetables and baking or broiling proteins can help melt the pounds away. Exercises that increase your heart rate, such as aerobics, will burn calories and boost metabolism. Proper nutrition and exercise will compliment acupuncture in the weight loss process.
