There are many ways to prevent anxiety.  Here are some of the ways you can effectively prevent this mental disorder.

Know more about anxiety – Knowing the nature of anxiety, how it affects your health and quality of life and the ways to treat and prevent them is a huge step in helping you to at least prevent this disorder from overrunning your life. Read as much articles about this problem as well as other mental disorders. Study the signs and symptoms of anxiety disorder, know what things to avoid, what right foods to eat and what you must do when you are hit with a panic attack.

Avoid stress as much as possible – Too much stress not only affects your mental health but your physical health as well. It is one of the most corrosive forces in a person’s health. Avoid things and people that are stressors in your life. Learn to say no to occasions when you need to take care of more important things. Do not do overtime if it’s possible and do not accept extra work that you think will not be finished on time.

Start being assertive – There is a big connection between individuals with low self-esteem and anxiety disorder. Passive people are not usually good at socializing and may often feel depressed. If you are a passive person, start becoming assertive and involve yourself in groups especially anxiety support groups that can get you over your anxiety problem. These groups might help you develop your self-confidence enabling you to develop assertiveness and confidence enough to be able to attend social events and gatherings effortlessly.

Learn and indulge in relaxation techniques – Breathing techniques, meditation and yoga help you to have peace of mind and stay relaxed. These activities help to uplift your emotions. It also helps you develop self-control and make you happy, factors that enable you to gain self-esteem and self-confidence.

Exercise – Exercising provides so many health advantages to the person. It makes the body function optimally and boosts the immune system making the person healthy in both body and mind. Exercising for at least 20 minutes for three to five times a week can help you overcome your anxiety problem. Indulging in more intense exercises provides much healthier results.

Eat a balanced diet – Along with exercise, eating a good and balanced diet is needed to make the body resilient to sickness, healthy and keep stress at a minimum level. The best foods are unprocessed, natural and organic foods.

Stop taking caffeine and nicotine – Certain teas, soda and coffee and even cigarette smoking will only raise your nerves higher so that is certainly undesirable and therefore need to be avoided at all times.

Make a journal of your everyday life – This will help you and your mental health doctor determine the stressors in your life as well as the ones that make you feel relaxed and happy.
